Workshop Series Coordinator

The coordinator is part of the Workshop Series Team:

  • Help organize the logistics for the workshops including:
    • Help to identify /confirming the room that will be used
    • Send reminders to the Instructors/Vendors/students about the workshops
    • Which volunteer will be present the day of the workshop (if necessary)
  •  Help to create content for marketing strategy


Skills required:

  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
    •  experience with developing marketing content 
  •  Excellent time management and follow-up skills
  •  Enjoys meeting new people


Time Commitment:

  •  4-6 hours a month, including attending monthly Membership team calls



Market Research for Young Talent Professionals

Improve your knowledge of the market! Would you like to know more about what’s out there for young talent development professionals?  Want to expand your network and build relationships across the city with educational institutions?  This is an opportunity for a volunteer to research NYC based colleges and universities to compile a database of university programs/schools relevant to talent development professionals.  You would be helping the Chapter create a list of institutions to approach about partnering with them to add value to early-career talent development professionals. If you have an hour or two to contribute per week over the next 3 months please contact us! 





Writers for ATD NYC Website and Social Media Channels 

The ATD NYC chapter is looking for creative writers to join our newly established website and social media content development team. 

Our goals are to have our content inform and engage current members, attract new members, and promote ATD NYC as the “go-to” channel for L&D thought leadership .

This is a great opportunity to promote your writing, share your perspective, and meet ATD NYC event presenters, chapter leaders and members.  You will also be part of the chapter’s marketing committee and gain insights from professionals in public relations, advertising, and social media.

Branding and Advertising Lead

Want to practice or develop your marketing skills. In 2017, the ATD NYC Chapter would like to refine and align all communications based on a rejuvenated brand platform with clear positioning and defined segmentation for internal and external audiences.  This role will take responsibility for refining the existing ATD NYC branding and positioning work to reflect the current mission and them of the chapter.  This is a new volunteer role in 2017 so you will also have the opportunity to shape this role.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review and recommend adaptations to branding and positioning work from 2017
  • Gain buy-in from the Board
  • Develop an ATD NYC Brand Book that includes templates/standards for communications including but not limited to:

    o   Weekly eMail Blast

    o   Social Media communications across outlets

    o   PR Releases for external outlets

    o   External marketing efforts (e.g. banner, print executions) or membership drives

  • Insure alignment with National ATD branding standards

Desired Qualifications:

  • A member of the Chapter in good standing

  • Some marketing experience a plus

  • A collaborative approach and open to feedback, potentially from multiple stakeholders

  • Self starter;  ability to work with limited direction

  • Strong organizational skill

Time Commitment:

  • Max 3 hours a month (includes independent development work, collecting feedback from other Marketing Team Members and Board Leaders and attendance at Marketing Team Meetings (virtual attendance is acceptable) and potentially present at 1-2 Board Meetings.



Sponsorship Lead

ATD NYC sponsors are critical partners that help support the ongoing operations of our chapter.  Developing, growing and nurturing these relationships is important work that requires consistent attention through-out the year.  If you are interested in relationship building and expanding your network, this is a perfect volunteer position for you.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage existing sponsorship relationships insuring that ATD NYC is meeting the agreed to sponsorship terms and that we are on top of annual sponsorship renewals.
  • Support sponsor activity e.g. sponsor webinars or presence at events.
  • Update sponsor slide for each Chapter event.
  • Develop and cultivate new sponsors.
  • Manage all administrative aspects of the sponsorship including annual agreements, invoicing, keeping the sponsor tracking sheet up-to-date.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A member of the Chapter in good standing
  • Excellent relationship builder

  • Strong organizational skill

  • Detail oriented

Time Commitment:

  • Max 2 hours a month (includes independent administrative work, regular check ins with sponsors and attendance at Marketing Team Meetings (virtual attendance is acceptable).




Webinar Co-Chair

The ATD NYC Webinar Co-Chairs will arrange and facilitate chapter webinar events for the year.  This is an opportunity to engage our members, who may not be able to attend in-person events of the ATD NYC Chapter, or those who would like to increase their learning in the topics covered.  In addition to arranging and running each event, you have the opportunity to provide marketing, work with presenters on a wide variety of topics, practice facilitation skills, engage attendees during the event with surveys, and other interactive webinar practices.

Primary Responsibilities:

The committee is responsible for 5-6 webinar events each year

  • Job responsibilities are shared; Co-Chairs will work together and with the ATD NYC board to plan a strategy that aligns with the annual ATD competency model
  • Get the speaker in advance
  • Create marketing and communicate information with Art Weiss in advance
  • Set up WebEx event
  • Review presenter’s deck to ensure content is aligned with learning goals, marketing is appropriately at a minimum, and best webinar practices are incorporated to maximize engagement.
  • Rehearse with presenters to gain a working knowledge with the webinar platform.
  • Provide constructive feedback to presenters to tailor the webinar content and delivery to meet the anticipated needs of our members.
  • Suggest places during presentation where interactivity could be included, suggest types of interactivity, and practice interactivity.
  • Work with the chapter marketing director to market the webinars.
  • Run the event on the chapter’s WebEx platform
  • Be interesting and engaging as a facilitator
  • Keep the conversation going by recording session and posting
  • Engage other members with leaderboard (new goal – not yet activated)
  • Connect with participants with follow up surveys to improve webinar experiences.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficient with WebEx platform or tech savvy

  • Engaging facilitation style

  • Willingness to learn the best practices in webinar events and try new applications

  • Presentation skills

  • Marketing skills are useful

  • Showcase or improve your webinar facilitation skills

  • Increase your presence as a webinar host within the field of Talent Development

  • Increase your visibility as chapter member through social marketing and leading events

  • Connect with new colleagues and potential presenters – nationally and internationally

  • Improve marketing skills

Time Commitment:

  • 1 hour to plan and secure presenters

  • 1 hour to create and communicate marketing

  • 1 + hours to dry-run presentation and review logistics with presenter beforehand

  • 1 + hours attendance at the 1 hour webinar event (or less for 30 minute webinars).

  • 45 minutes for After-Action Review to review exit surveys and event wins and opportunities
    (Roughly 4-5 hours/presentation)
