Data is driving changes in the world of talent management. No matter your industry or role, fluency in the language of analytics will allow you to contribute to data driven decision-making. This session will allow you to participate in an open discussion about the basics of analytics.

ATD NYC and the Baruch College IO Psychology Student Group are happy to host
Dr. Sy Islam and Dr. Mike Chetta of Talent Metrics. Their work is based in data driven
talent management. No matter your level of knowledge of analytics, this discussion will be beneficial for anyone looking to learn about the cutting edge of talent management techniques.

Participants will discuss:

1)    The definition of analytics

2)    The value proposition of analytics

3)    How to get started with analytics

4)    What and when to measure

Participants will learn:

1)    The basic uses of analytics in talent management

2)    How to start a conversation about analytics with their teams and within their organizations.

About our presenters:

Michael Chetta, Ph.D.is a co-founder and one of the principal consultants at Talent Metrics. Along with his co-founders, he completed his Ph.D. in Applied Organizational Psychology from Hofstra University and a Master’s in Business Administration and Management from Dowling College.

In his career, Mike has worked for large Fortune 500 organizations managing client relationships, providing actionable analytics, and impacting the design of global engagement surveys. His efforts in corporate centers of excellence directly partnered with senior level executives has ensured alignment of metrics across organizations and geared towards the company’s overall strategy. Mike’s areas of expertise include survey design and implementation, employee engagement, customer loyalty, linkage research, and statistical analyses.

Mike is also an adjunct faculty member at Touro College in the Graduate IO Psychology program. He currently resides in the Greater Orlando, Florida area with his wife and two young sons.

Sy Islam, Ph.D.has over 10 years of experience in a variety of corporate, academic, and applied settings. He completed his Bachelors from Rutgers University, his MBA in Human Resource Management and a Master’s of Arts in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and his PhD in Applied Organizational Psychology from Hofstra University. 

He is currently an Assistant Professor of Industrial Organizational Psychology at Farmingdale State College. In addition to his role as a professor, he is a co-founder and a Principal Consultant with Talent Metrics. In his role at Talent Metrics, he collaborates with organizations through consulting engagements in his areas of expertise (training and development, selection, survey design, performance management, and team building). He is a passionate advocate for the fields of I-O Psychology and training. He currently serves as the Vice-President of Programming for the Long Island Chapter of the Association for Talent Development.
