The World is Being Disrupted – It’s Time to Rethink Development

Leadership & Coaching in a Complex World

• Are you and/or your organization constantly facing greater demands to “do more, to a higher quality with less?”
• Are change and unpredictability becoming part of the everyday experience in your workplace?
• Do your leaders need to collaborate and network across organizational functions and/or global boundaries?
• Are you asking your leaders to think more strategically and more systemically – to “connect the dots?”
• Do you need to make more innovative decisions in ambiguous, uncertain and ever changing environments?
• Are your leaders increasingly being asked to demonstrate more self-direction, agility and resilience?

If you responded yes to any one or more of these questions then you are not alone. Our organizations stand at a new frontier, one typified by increased Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity (VUCA). Our capacity as leaders, coaches, HR, L&D and Talent professionals to respond to these challenges will mean the difference between success and failure.

Traditional approaches to Leadership Development fall short. Research suggests that up to 77% of leaders have not developed the necessary “Complexity of Mind” to successfully navigate today’s challenges, and as such, are “in over their heads.”

Join us for a thought provoking, interactive session where we will explore a new approach to Talent & Leadership Development – one that builds on and enhances traditional approaches that focus only on skills and competencies, to include the shift in mindset, not just behavior, that is required for effective leadership and organizational success in a fast moving, unpredictable environment.

We will also explore the implications for coaches and coach development.

About our Presenters:

Angela Wright has over 25 years global professional experience, including more than 10 years experience as a leadership consultant, facilitator, researcher and coach. As a former attorney and corporate advisor, Angela has lead complex international projects worth in excess of $1billion. This provides her with a deep understanding of leadership in our global, uncertain, and knowledge driven economy. Angela is actively involved in empirical research, including working on the world’s largest leadership and coaching research project that focused on the development of a Leader’s “Complexity of Mind” and its impact on organizational effectiveness. Angela currently serves on the Board of ATD NYC as Vice President of Special Interest Groups and as Co-Chair of ATD NYC’s Coaching Supervision Programs.

Joyce Grillo has 25 years of global experience as an Executive Coach and Leadership and Talent Development Consultant. She started her career in human resources at Citigroup where she was Head of HR for Private and International Wealth Management. This experience combined with her work as a consultant has given her an insider’s view of the complex challenges facing leaders and organizations. Thus, she is passionate about helping individuals and organizations to develop the “Complexity of Mind” that will allow them to think in more complex ways and perform more effectively in uncertain and ambiguous environments. As a member of ATD NYC, she applies her extensive coaching experience as Co-Chair of the Coaching Special Interest Group, as well as Co-Chair of ATD NYC’s Coaching Supervision Programs.
